M & M Invitational |
Most brackets make you fill out a winner for every game in the tournament.
This bracket makes you choose one team of each seed. This means you get one(and only one) #1 seed, only one #2 seed, and so forth. Your 16 teams will accumulate points for each game they win. Points are awarded according to the round in which the win occurs, 1 point for a round 1 win, 2 points for a round 2 win, and so forth.
Check the Payouts tab to see what totals have won in the past. The range may surprise you!
Yes!
Click the Kids tab and register your children there. Once registered, you will be able to enter teams on their behalf on the Team Entry Page.
Registation is the process of creating an account and verifying an email address. It only has to be done once. From then on, you login with your username and password. This is necessary to ensure proper authentication, authorization and uniqueness on the site.
Some tabs are available without a login, including scoring, so you don't have to login if you just want to bookmark the scoresheet.
The window to enter teams starts after the bracket reveal on Sunday afternoon and ends Thursday morning once games have begun. Since we ignore the play-in game winners/losers, those games have no effect on scores, which means there is no need to have teams entered before those games, and you can pick either team in team entry and you will automatically get the winner of the game as your team for that slot.
Late entries are accepted only with approval from Matt or Chuck, and your reputation amongst the group will be tarnished.

The short answer is this
1st Place 70%
2nd Place 20%
3rd Place 10%
The long answer is this
We have 3 payouts (P1, P2, P3).
If there are tied contestants for the top spot:
Determine the number of ties (T1) at the top spot.
Consume T1 payouts (P1 + P2 + ... + PT1) into a pot.
Split the pot equally among T1 contestants.
If there are remaining payouts (P3):
Determine the number of ties (T2) for the second spot.
Consume T2 payouts (P3 + ... + PT2) into a second pot.
Split the second pot equally among T2 contestants.
Example 1:
If 2 contestants tie for first place, they share P1 + P2 equally. P3 remains separate for third place.
Example 2:
If 3 contestants tie for first place, they share P1 + P2 + P3 equally. No payouts remain for third place.
In years past, there were additional payouts available for 3, 4, and 5 year running totals, and the longer running "Race to 500". We have decided to discontinue these pots because it's extra hassle and Sticha always wins so what's the point.
We ignore them. Technically speaking, nobody is picking teams, they are picking "region seeds". Think of it not as having this team or that, you have the 11 seed in the South region, or the 16 seed in the West region. So if you choose to pick a playin game as your region-seed, you get whatever team wins the game, regardless of which one you pick when you enter your teams.
There current round's tab will always show "potential" points. As teams get eliminated in that round, the potential scores will come down until the round is over, when potential points for that round become the actual points for that round.
